Job summary

Volvo Trucks is seeking a hands-on HGV Technician Supervisor to lead our workshop team in Wilstead, Bedford. You will supervise a team of technicians, allocate work, ensure servicing and repairs meet Volvo standards, and maintain safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, strong communication, and the ability to motivate staff. A full UK driving licence (HGV preferred) is a big plus, and there is a rotating shift pattern with

Qualifications

• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Workshop experience – ideally in trucks/buses – with some supervisory know-how.
• A strong communicator who can get the best out of a team.
• Organised, proactive, and customer-focused.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of HGV Technicians within the workshop.
• Allocate and prioritise work to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
• Oversee servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy before release.
• Diagnose and assist with complex technical issues when required.
• Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and job progress.
• Liaise with service advisors, transport operators, customers and other departments.
• Support technician training, development and performance.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork, job cards and maintenance records are completed accurately.
• Promote a positive, professional and safety-focused workshop environment.
