Job summary

GE-Vernova- is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help deliver next‑gen software for power systems in a zero‑carbon transition. You’ll lead design decisions, evolve modular software, and collaborate with global teams to leverage high‑resolution data for real‑time control and analysis.

You’ll work hybrid in Edinburgh, contributing across teams, driving scalable architectures, and applying best practices in testing and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM field.
• Extensive commercial software development experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise with microservices.
• Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm in production.
• Experience in web frontend with TypeScript/Angular.
• Proficient in Go or Python for utilities and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in an agile environment.
• Design, develop, and evolve software for power systems.
• Define scope, estimate work, and justify plans.
• Lead design reviews and drive interfaces between modules.
• Maintain code quality with tests and automation.
• Assess performance and optimize system reliability.
