Job summary

Marchant Recruitment represents a high-achieving secondary school in Blackburn, Lancashire, seeking a dynamic Lead Practitioner of Geography to lead geographical inquiry, fieldwork excellence, and GIS integration from January.

The Lead Practitioner will shape teaching quality across KS3-5, coach colleagues on map skills and data analysis, and ensure GCSE and A-Level fieldwork meets exam board criteria in a permanent, full-time post.

Qualifications

• QTS with honours degree is required.
• Strong GCSE and A-Level Geography outcomes expected.
• Experience coaching peers and leading curriculum improvements.

Responsibilities

• Teach Geography across KS3–KS5 with engaging, rigorous lessons.
• Lead departmental coaching in spatial data analysis and GIS integration.
• Audit and refine schemes of work to improve climate and physical/human process understanding.
• Oversee compulsory fieldwork and ensure safety and exam compliance.
• Mentor early-career teachers and conduct peer observations.
