Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic, full-time substantive consultant gastroenterologist with a subspecialty interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. You will join a fourteen-strong team of gastroenterologists with dedicated IBD nurses, MDTs, and links to colorectal colleagues.

The post includes 10 programmed activities and a 1:14 on-call rota. You should hold a CCT in gastroenterology and general medicine with NHS experience, and be prepared to lead, develop care

Qualifications

• Completed CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine.
• Full GMC registration with license to practice.
• MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification.
• MD or PhD (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Independent care of patients with complex IBD.
• Actively lead and contribute to IBD MDTs.
• Support and training of the IBD nurses.
• Foster close teamworking within the IBD team.
• Developing IBD care pathways.
• Support networking with internal and external providers.
• Support IBD data collection/audit and database.
• Implement national policies and guidance and local GIRFT recommendations relating to IBD care.
• Develop departmental IBD research portfolio.
• Maintain appropriate CPD.
• Endoscopy (Elective, training, and inpatient emergency).
• Outpatient work (clinics, referral vetting, GP advice and guidance).
• Inpatient work (Consultant of the week to cover GI ward, Ward referrals).
• Weekend work (6 hours on site and emergency endoscopy) 1 week in 14.

Education

CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine

MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification
