Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust in the West Midlands invites applications for a substantive Consultant Gastroenterology with a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease to join our dedicated IBD team across three sites, including MMUH.

The post requires MRCP (UK) or equivalent, entry on the Specialist Register or imminent CCT, GMC registration, and active involvement in MDTs, ward on-call, weekend endoscopy, and 18-week pathway targets.

Qualifications

• MRCP (UK) or equivalent is essential.
• Entry on the Specialist Register in Gastroenterology (or CCT expected within 6 months) is essential.
• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop sub-specialty interests in inflammatory bowel disease.
• Contribute to clinical pathways to support the 18-week patient pathway guarantee.
• Participate in gastroenterology ward on-call (COW1) and COW2 shifts, weekend endoscopy lists, and the virtual GP referral clinic.
