Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is recruiting a substantive Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease to join the IBD team across three hospital sites: Sandwell Health Campus, City Health Campus and MMUH.

The post requires MRCP or equivalent and eligibility for the Specialist Register in Gastroenterology. The appointee will share responsibilities for service delivery, on-call duties, endoscopy lists, and clinical audit to improve patient care.

Qualifications

• MRCP (UK) or equivalent essential.
• Entry on Specialist Register in Gastroenterology (or CCT expected within 6 months) essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop sub-specialty interests in inflammatory bowel disease to complement current staff.
• Work across three hospital sites (Sandwell Health Campus, City Health Campus, MMUH) to maintain 18-week patient pathway.
• Fulfill consultant on-call duties and weekend endoscopy lists as part of the job plan.
• Participate in gastroenterology ward on-call (COW1/COW2) and provide in-reach services to the acute medical unit.
