Job summary

FORT seeks a Senior Functional Safety Manager to own all safety standards and regulatory requirements impacting our products. You will bridge IEC 61508 lifecycle evidence with customer safety arguments and be the primary contact for certification bodies.

You will oversee safety plans, lifecycle gates, safety manuals, and PFHD/architecture data for ISO 13849 and IEC 62061, while watching EU Machinery Regulation readiness and evolving standards to inform roadmaps and compliance files.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in functional safety as a practising engineer embedded, systems, hardware, or safety‑critical software in regulated domains.
• At least one product taken through third‑party certification end‑to‑end with substantial safety argument ownership.
• Deep fluency in IEC 61508 parts 1–3 and Annex D requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the standards picture across products and markets IEC 61508, ISO 13849 and IEC 62061.
• Serve as the named Functional Safety Manager: own the safety plan, lifecycle phases and gate criteria.
• Hold the gates and ensure evidence is adequate and independent.
• Author safety manuals and subsystem data packs for customers.
• Own certification body relationships end‑to‑end: scope, submission, findings, surveillance.
• Monitor EU Machinery Regulation readiness and other standards for roadmap impact.
• Close the loop from field modifications to the safety argument.
