Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in London to lead development for Structured Credit & Financing tools. You will partner with traders, risk, and global tech teams to deliver robust solutions across trade booking, risk/PnL, margin, settlement and reporting.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding in Java/Scala/C++/Python, production stability, and guiding a global team to improve delivery capability within a fast-moving front-office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative / computational discipline.
• Strong hands-on software development experience in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Scala, C++, C#, Python or similar.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, service‑oriented architecture, data flows and production support patterns.
• Experience with Genesis or similar front‑office trading platforms.
• Experience mentoring junior developers or coordinating delivery across a global team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new ideas and/or policies in own area.
• Analyze information to create summaries for stakeholders and build credibility with traders and business leaders through reliable delivery.
• Take ownership of production issues and drive them to permanent resolution.
• Improve stability, supportability and performance of key Structured Credit & Financing tools.
• Deliver hands-on code changes and contribute to intraday coverage and Genesis development.
