Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed AI Engineer to join our Core Business Services team. This hands‑on role combines leadership with delivering AI agents and automation tools across projects, while mentoring junior engineers.

You will design cloud‑native AI solutions, balance low‑code and pro‑code approaches, oversee governance and security, and work with onshore and offshore resources. Location: any UK office; permanent role.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI or equivalent experience.
• Proven AI developer/engineer with delivered projects.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
• GIT version control knowledge.
• Strong algorithms, data structures and design principles.
• Experience with Pandas, NumPy, SQL.
• Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Dataverse).
• Experience building and orchestrating LLM agents (prompt design, grounding, retrieval).
• Cloud experience and API integration (Graph, REST, SQL, SharePoint).
• Experience with enterprise guardrails (AI risk, data security).
• Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI agents and automation tools across projects.
• Architect AI solutions across projects and portfolios, with scalable, reusable components.
• Decide between low-code and pro-code approaches.
• Design cloud-native AI solutions and integrate new AI offerings.
• Provide technical oversight and QA for projects and team members.
• Set engineering standards and review code across the team.
• Translate business problems into technical scope and effort estimates.
• Own governance, AI risk assessment, environments, licensing, and release processes.
• Manage senior stakeholders and coordinate delivery with offshore resources.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Stay up to date with AI advancements and apply them to projects.
• Document code, processes and methodologies for maintainability.
• Lead and participate in code reviews with constructive feedback.
