Job summary

Chesterfield Poultry Ltd in Doncaster is hiring an Engineering Supervisor to lead and coordinate maintenance of production equipment in a food manufacturing setting. You will focus on minimise downtime, uphold food safety and quality standards, and drive continuous improvement across the site.

You will supervise day-to-day engineering activities, manage a shift team, implement PPM schedules, respond to breakdowns quickly, and support root-cause analysis on mechanical, electrical and automation

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a supervisory or senior engineering role within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
• Experience with automated production lines and manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
• Good understanding of health & safety and food safety requirements in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities across production and utilities.
• Ensure planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules are completed effectively and on time.
• Respond to breakdowns, prioritising actions to minimise production downtime.
• Support fault-finding and root cause analysis on mechanical, electrical, and automation issues.
• Ensure all equipment is maintained in line with manufacturer guidelines and site standards.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of engineers on shift.
• Allocate work, manage shift handovers, and ensure effective communication within the team.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure team compliance with site policies.
