Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking an engineering leader to provide technical leadership for fleet safety, reliability and performance. You will head the local Support Engineering team, drive investigations and improvement programmes, and deputise for the Engineering Manager when required.

Qualifications

• HND/HNC, degree or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Significant rolling stock or complex asset engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical teams and coordinating engineering activity.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Shift Support Engineers at the TMC.
• Coordinate with Lead Support Engineers across TMCs to balance resources.
• Represent Hitachi at periodic customer meetings.
• Act as Engineering lead and focal point for TMC engineering activity and support.
• Lead investigations into fleet performance, reliability and safety issues with RCA.
• Analyse remote condition monitoring outputs to identify fleet risks.
• Ensure statements of works are in place prioritised for safety, reliability and performance.
• Own reliability performance reporting and drive improvements via reliability growth modelling.
• Produce and implement fleet checks and engineering changes.
• Peer review Engineering changes for industry standard compliance.
• Produce technical engineering reports for major faults.
• Maintain engineering documentation (VMIs, VMPs, FFGs, defect guides, modification instructions).
• Identify and support optimisation work streams including digital solutions and condition-based monitoring tools.
• Act as SME for allocated system(s) and own engineering risk and safety performance.
• Deputise for Engineering Manager and participate in on-call roster and incident response.
