Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking a Lead Support Engineer to provide technical leadership for fleet safety, reliability and performance at the Doncaster site. You will lead the local Support Engineering team, coordinate activities, drive investigations and support continuous improvement across the fleet.

You will mentor engineers, deputise for the Engineering Manager when required, and work with customers to ensure safe, reliable operation and timely delivery of engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• HND/HNC, degree or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Significant rolling stock or complex asset engineering experience (desirable).
• Experience leading technical teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Shift Support Engineers at the TMC.
• Coordinate with Lead Support Engineers at other TMCs to balance resource requirements and workload.
• Represent Hitachi at Periodic Customer Meetings and act as Engineering lead for TMC activities.
• Lead technical investigations into fleet performance, reliability and safety issues with root-cause analysis.
• Analyse remote condition monitoring outputs to identify performance risks.
• Ensure SoWs are in place and prioritised for safety and reliability.
