Qualifications

  • A degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Fire Engineer or within a Fire Safety Engineering team.
  • IFE Membership (MIFireE or AIFireE).
  • Understanding of ADB, BS 9999 and BS 9991.

Responsibilities

  • Produce fee proposals, fire strategy reports and related documentation.
  • Attend client meetings, conduct site surveys and communicate fire strategy to design team and client.
  • Review architectural drawings for fire strategy risks and value opportunities.
  • Perform Means of Escape Analysis calculations for evacuation times.
  • Conduct Computational Evacuation Modelling Analysis.
  • Carry out fire engineering calculations including radiant heat, smoke control and evacuations.
  • Perform Third Party Review/Design Verification.
  • Understand and apply main UK fire safety legislation and standards.

Affinity Fire Engineering is a specialised fire safety consultancy firm servicing a diverse range of clients and sectors throughout the UK, Ireland and Australia. We have two open vacancies available, one based in London and the other based in Cheltenham, and are looking for proactive and experienced Senior Fire Engineers to join the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Production of fee proposals, fire strategy reports and other relevant documentation as and when required.
  • Attend Client meetings, conduct site surveys and inspections and communicate the intended fire strategy to the design team and client through phone calls, emails and meetings as appropriate.
  • Reviewing architectural drawings to determine potential fire strategy approval risks and opportunities to add value.
  • Calculations of evacuation times - Means of Escape Analysis.
  • Computational Evacuation Modelling Analysis.
  • Solve, with support, fire engineering calculations including radiant heat, smoke control and occupant evacuations.
  • Third Party Review/Design Verification.
  • Assessment and understanding of the main UK fire safety legislation and standards applied to buildings.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • A degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Fire Engineer or equivalent within a Fire Safety Engineering team.
  • IFE Membership (MIFireE or AIFireE).
  • A thorough understanding of ADB, BS 9999 and BS 9991.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory controls and a proven ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions in the built environment.
