Job summary

Affinity Fire Engineering, a specialised fire safety consultancy, seeks proactive Fire Engineers for London and Cheltenham offices. The role covers desktop and field activities, with client interactions and design reviews across UK projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Fire Engineer within a Fire Safety Engineering team.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory controls and ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions in the built environment.
  • Understanding of ADB, BS 9999 and BS 9991.

Responsibilities

  • Produce fire strategy reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Review architectural drawings to assess fire strategy risks and opportunities to add value.
  • Calculate evacuation times — Means of Escape Analysis.
  • Perform Computational Evacuation Modelling Analysis.
  • Carry out fire engineering calculations including radiant heat, smoke control, and occupant evacuations with support.
  • Communicate fire strategy to design team and client via calls, emails and meetings.
  • Support Third Party Review/Design Verification.
  • Understand main UK fire safety legislation and standards applied to buildings.
