Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Fire Engineer within a Fire Safety Engineering team.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory controls and ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions in the built environment.
  • Understanding of ADB, BS 9999 and BS 9991.

Responsibilities

  • Produce fire strategy reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Review architectural drawings to assess fire strategy risks and opportunities to add value.
  • Calculate evacuation times — Means of Escape Analysis.
  • Perform Computational Evacuation Modelling Analysis.
  • Carry out fire engineering calculations including radiant heat, smoke control, and occupant evacuations with support.
  • Communicate fire strategy to design team and client via calls, emails and meetings.
  • Support Third Party Review/Design Verification.
  • Understand main UK fire safety legislation and standards applied to buildings.

Affinity Fire Engineering is a specialised fire safety consultancy firm servicing a diverse range of clients and sectors throughout the UK & Ireland. We have open vacancies available in London and Cheltenham offices and are looking for proactive and experienced Fire Engineers to join the team.

As a member of our team, you will be required to undertake fire engineering projects including supporting design projects both within and outside of the UK. The work will be technical in nature with a mixture of desktop activities as well as off‑site activities and supported client interaction. You will carry out reviews of design projects on the initial stage to more advanced projects, whilst also supporting the fire engineering team.

Key Requirements
