Job summary

Yorkshire Housing is seeking an Extra Care Scheme Manager to oversee a modern extra care scheme in Wakefield. You will lead tenancy allocations, onboarding new customers, and ongoing liaison with health and social care partners to support independent living.

You will manage income, service charges and safeguarding while ensuring high standards of housing and care services. The role requires driving, strong communication, and teamwork with a range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Excellent negotiation skills and an ability to work well with other stakeholders.
• Eagerness to develop own skills and adapt to change.
• Proficient in the use of ICT systems and Microsoft packages.
• High level of accuracy, including numerical accuracy.
• Experience of supporting older and/or vulnerable customers.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate with a wide range of customers from various backgrounds.
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise and deliver agreed outcomes and a track record of delivering excellent customer service.
• Evidence of effective partnership working and network development.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Knowledge of services available to older people.
• Full UK driving license and access to a car for business purposes.
• An understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity and how this is applied through our service to customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Attend allocation panel meetings and ensure lettings follow policy.
• Allocate properties, conduct sign-ups, induct new customers and explain YH services.
• Review rent, service charges, and accounts to ensure income collection.
• Manage tenancy issues including low-level ASB and disputes.
• Oversee health and safety, fire safety, risk assessments and compliance.
• Develop Independence Plans and signpost to other agencies.
• Collaborate with health professionals, social workers, and relatives to meet customer needs.
• Monitor safeguarding issues and coordinate with partners to provide high-quality services.
• Direct workload of scheme cleaners and ensure staff training.
• Maintain relationships with partner organisations to achieve KPIs and service quality.
