Job summary

Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a Lead Estimator to help shape Sizewell C's delivery within the Marine and Tunnels Section. You will supervise a multi-skill estimating team to develop cost planning and pricing aligned with client requirements and project controls.

You will present, defend and refine estimates with senior leaders and external partners, ensuring robust, auditable documentation and stakeholder engagement across procurement and planning streams.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in civil/infra estimating within a main contractor environment.
• Proficient with Excel and related estimation tools.
• Excellent client-facing communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of industry estimation standards (AACE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a multi-skill estimating team to develop cost planning and pricing for the Alliance Services and Plant & Logistics section.
• Feed into the Head of Estimating to ensure consistency in estimating approach set out by the client.
• Produce estimating documentation for internal and external assurance.
• Stakeholder management to produce the Estimate.
• Present, negotiate and justify prices to senior leaders and external customers/partners.

Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

Lead Estimator Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.

What will you do?

• Managing a multi skill level estimating team (Senior Estimator, Estimator, Assistant Estimator) to develop both cost planning and pricing for the Alliance Services and Plant & Logistics section of the project.
• Feeding into the Head of Estimating on the project to ensure consistency in estimating approach set out by the client.
• Capable of producing various estimating documentation that can be assured both internally and externally.
• Stakeholder management to produce the Estimate e.g., planning, procurement etc.
• Presenting, negotiating and justifying prices produced in an open and honest manner to both senior leaders within the business and/or external customers/partners.

What are we looking for?

Essential

• Proficient in the use of excel and similar software.
• Excellent client facing/communications skills

Desirable

• Experienced estimating background using Candy Estimating Software.
• Experienced estimating background using RIB Cost X Quantification & Estimating Software.
• Experience of working with the AACE principles of Estimating Class and associated maturity
• Mobile and flexible

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Infrastructure Main Contractor background ideally in the Civil engineering market.
• Commercial or operational background considered.

Desirable

Chartered by relevant industry recognised chartership e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB Etc
