Job summary

Millbank Holdings Ltd is seeking a Senior Environmental Adviser to take environmental ownership on a major UK infrastructure project in Workington. You will lead the project’s environmental compliance, governance and on-site delivery, working with the team and supply chain to embed best-practice standards.

You will develop CEMPs, manage permits, monitor environmental performance, and coordinate training and briefings while engaging regulators, clients and local authorities to drive improvements

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior environmental advisory role within construction, ideally on infrastructure projects.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental compliance, legal requirements, and site-based environmental risk controls.
• Proven capability developing and delivering CEMPs and associated environmental management plans.
• Expert experience managing environmental consents and permits, including registers and discharge of conditions.
• Strong practical understanding of environmental monitoring requirements (air, water, noise and/or vibration).
• Proven ability to influence site teams and supply chain, delivering training/briefings and driving consistent standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging clients, regulators and local authorities.
• CSCS card essential and SMSTS/SSSTS desirable.
• Degree-level qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking environmental aspects and impacts assessments and identifying mitigation measures
• Developing and implementing the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and any project-specific plans
• Communicating requirements to site teams and supply chain, delivering briefings, training, and toolbox talks
• Managing environmental consents and permits, maintaining registers, and ensuring requirements are discharged
• Reviewing method statements and risk assessments to ensure environmental protection measures are embedded
• Supporting and/or implementing environmental monitoring where required
• Completing regular site inspections, reporting and closing out issues, and using reporting tools to identify trends
• Leading environmental incident response, investigation, reporting, and liaison with regulators
• Supporting audits and helping deliver ISO 14001 / BS 50001 commitments
• Building relationships with clients, authorities and stakeholders
