Job summary

Platform Property Care, part of Platform Housing Group, is seeking a Lead Gas Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership across our gas servicing operations in Derbyshire. This mobile role involves resolving complex repairs, gaining access to properties, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring safe, compliant services.

Essential qualifications include ACS tickets (CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, MET1, CPA1), an NVQ Level in Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation, and an Unvented hot water

Qualifications

• Gas engineer with ACS qualifications and relevant ACS tickets.
• Experience working in occupied domestic properties and delivering high first-time fix rates.
• Knowledge of Social Housing and relevant legislation including Awaab's Law would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support across gas servicing operations.
• Resolve complex repairs and gain access to hard-to-reach properties.
• Mentor colleagues and improve compliance performance.
• Support appointments with a flexible approach, including out-of-hours rota.
• Work mobile across Derbyshire, maintaining an hour’s commute or less.

Are you a highly skilled Gas Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and supporting others to succeed?

At Platform Property Care, we're looking for a Lead Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership across our gas servicing operations in Derbyshire. Working closely with operational teams, you'll help resolve challenging cases, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient, and customer-focused services. Reporting to the Heating Service Delivery Manager, you will provide specialist technical support across our gas operations, helping to resolve complex repairs, gain access to hard-to-reach properties, and support appointments that require a flexible approach.

Who we're looking for

Essential Qualifications

• Appropriate ACS gas qualifications (e.g., CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, MET1, CPA1).
• NVQ Level in 2 Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation (or equivalent) is essential.
• Unvented hot water qualification.
• High level of competency in diagnosing and carrying out complex heating repairs
• Basic electrical understanding of complex heating systems.
• LPG and Oil qualifications, or willingness to achieve these during probation.

Experience & Skills

• Strong technical background and experience across a range of domestic gas appliances.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and other trades.
• Proven track record of achieving high first-time fix rates.
• Experience working in occupied domestic properties.
• Knowledge of Social Housing and relevant legislation including Awaab's Law would be an advantage
• Competence using portable tools, ladders, and equipment.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to manage sensitive situations.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage complex cases effectively.
• High standard of written and verbal communication.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• IT literacy, including use of handheld devices and email.
• Full current valid UK driving licence is essential, as this is a mobile role.
• As you will be working in our customers' homes you would also require a DBS check.
• Flexibility to work varying hours and days to meet operational priorities and maintain service cover.
• Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours rota.
• This is a mobile role covering Derbyshire, so you will need to live within a reasonable travelling distance of the area. Ideally no further than an hour's commute.
