Job summary

NP Aerospace is seeking an immediately available Lead Engineer to own vehicle system projects from concept to validation, supporting defence programmes and international partnerships. The role combines advanced electro-mechanical engineering with leadership, focusing on manufacturability, safety, and long-term supportability, within a global business.

You'll collaborate across the design office, project teams, and customers, delivering high-quality documentation and robust engineering data for

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in engineering or related discipline.
• Experience within defence, aerospace or automotive engineering.
• Strong understanding of electro-mechanical and/or mechanical system architecture.
• Knowledge of fabrication, machining and composite materials.
• Hands-on, practical problem-solving mindset with a focus on manufacturability and quality.
• Experience with configuration management, change control, and systems engineering principles.
• 3D CAD modelling, CAE, or simulation experience.
• Knowledge of UK MoD processes, AESPs, or defence contracting environments.
• Experience supporting bids, proposals, or complex programme delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned vehicle system projects from concept through validation.
• Ensure designs meet customer specs and regulatory requirements.
• Guide solutions balancing performance, manufacturability, reliability, and long-term supportability.
• Collaborate with Chief Engineer, Project Managers, Design Office, and cross-functional teams.
• Produce high-quality engineering documentation and manufacturing data packs.
