Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc is seeking a Lead Engineer for Extra High Voltage (EHV) Systems to lead the technical specification, development, integration and delivery of EHV transmission and switchyard equipment for the SMR grid connection. You will manage lifecycle activities from requirements through to commissioning and acceptance.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical power engineering for transmission, utilities, substations or EHV projects.
• Knowledge of EHV components: circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, surge arresters, busbars.
• Experience with AIS and/or GIS installations and electrical modelling approaches.

Responsibilities

• Develop component requirements for EHV switchgear and transmission infrastructure.
• Produce and manage EHV technical specifications and procurement documentation.
• Define equipment ratings, insulation coordination and fault-level requirements.
• Support selection and evaluation of AIS and GIS switchgear solutions.
• Review supplier calculations, designs and technical submissions.
• Coordinate interfaces with transformers, protection, and civil infrastructure.
• Lead design reviews, gate reviews and technical governance activities.
• Act as technical owner for grid connection equipment, busbar systems, and protection interfaces.
• Manage supplier selection, tender evaluation and technical clarification.
• Oversee FAT procedures and manufacturing oversight; identify and manage technical risks.
