Job summary

Biffa Group’s MRF in Edmonton seeks a hands-on Lead Engineer to lead and support a team of multi-skilled technicians.

You’ll drive plant performance, reduce downtime, prioritise maintenance, perform fault finding and carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operation. London weighting applies to the salary.

Qualifications

• Qualified with an HNC in Mechanical or Plant Engineering.
• Experience supervising engineering teams in industrial settings.
• Strong fault finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and welding is a plus.

Lead Engineer

Help us make a difference as a Lead Engineer at our MRF in Edmonton.

Location: Edmonton
Salary: £58,000 inclusive of LW allowance.
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off, rotating 2 days and 2 nights

A quick look at the role

We’re looking for a hands on Shift Engineering Supervisor to lead and support a team of multi skilled technicians at our busy Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Edmonton.

You’ll be responsible for driving plant performance, reducing downtime, prioritising engineering activity, and ensuring maintenance work is completed safely and efficiently. This is a key leadership role where you’ll lead by example, develop your team, and help deliver high engineering and operational standards across site.

• Support and develop engineering team capability and skill progression.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping, engineering practice and communication through effective shift handovers and reporting.

Our essential requirements

• HNC qualified in Mechanical or Plant Engineering.
• Previous experience supervising engineering teams within an industrial, manufacturing or processing environment.
• Strong fault finding and problem solving ability.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and welding.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and perform well in a fast paced operational environment.

Previous experience in the following roles will also be considered:

Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Team Leader, Shift Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Operations Supervisor, Lead Shift Engineer, Engineering Chargehand, Senior Maintenance Engineer, Engineering Shift Lead, Site Engineering Supervisor or Maintenance Shift Lead.
