Biffa Group in Edmonton, London is recruiting a proactive Shift Maintenance Engineer / Fabricator to maintain plant and equipment, combining mechanical maintenance, fabrication and welding repairs to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

The role focuses on preventing downtime, carrying out fault finding, fabrication and continuous improvement activities, and supporting long-term reliability through effective planned maintenance and high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Engineering or fabrication qualification such as Level 3 City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical maintenance and/or fabrication experience in an industrial environment.
• Experience fault finding and preventative maintenance on production equipment and welding repairs.
• Practical experience in fabrication, metalwork and welding is advantageous.
• Able to work in a fast-paced operational environment with a proactive approach.

Responsabilités

• Deliver high levels of plant availability through maintenance, fabrication and rapid breakdown response.
• Diagnose mechanical faults quickly and carry out efficient repairs to minimise downtime.
• Support and deliver planned preventative maintenance schedules across site equipment.
• Carry out fabrication, welding, cutting and modification work to repair or improve plant and equipment.
• Manufacture, repair and modify metal components and brackets as required.
• Identify recurring faults and help develop long-term engineering solutions.
• Read engineering drawings and liaise with contractors on specialist maintenance activities.
• Maintain high standards of safety, compliance and housekeeping at all times.
• Ensure activities comply with procedures and current legislation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and efficiency.
