Wipro is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to head a Platform Engineering squad in a hybrid role based in Greater London. You will set engineering standards, guide a small team of platform engineers and contribute hands-on to design and delivery across GCP, event backbone and interface factory.

You will collaborate with architecture, security and network governance, support cloud migration, and ensure scalable, reliable platform services used by multiple squads.

• Hands-on design, coding and reviews in delivery.
• Production experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Kotlin or Java development experience.

Responsabilités

• Lead and support a small squad of platform engineers while remaining actively involved in technical design and delivery.
• Design and build shared platform capabilities, including the GCP paved road, event backbone and agentic interface factory.
• Set practical engineering standards and ensure they are adopted by teams building on the platform.
• Create reliable platform services, tooling and developer experiences that can be reused across multiple engineering squads.
• Use coding agents such as Claude Code, or comparable tools, as part of real software delivery.
• Work with client architecture, security and network stakeholders to progress technical decisions and delivery approvals.
• Guide platform delivery through complex enterprise environments, balancing engineering quality, governance and pace.
• Contribute hands-on to solution design, coding, technical reviews, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Support cloud migration and modernisation, including legacy-to-cloud transition and parallel-running considerations where required.

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to lead a Platform Engineering squad delivering the shared capabilities that other engineering teams depend on. This is a senior, hands-on player-coach role, combining technical leadership with active design and engineering across a GCP paved road, event backbone and agentic interface factory.

You will set engineering standards, guide a small team of platform engineers and work effectively across architecture, security and network governance in a large enterprise environment.

Location: Greater London, UK

Working model: Hybrid 2/3 days per week in the office

Basis: Fixed term contract for 12 month

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading engineers who build a shared platform, service or developer capability used by other teams.
• A strong player-coach approach, with recent hands-on involvement in technical design, engineering and delivery.
• Practical experience using Claude Code or a similar coding agent in live delivery, not solely through research or experimentation.
• Experience delivering platform or cloud programmes within a large enterprise, consultancy or systems-integration environment.
• Ability to navigate architecture, security and network governance and build alignment across senior technical stakeholders.
• Strong platform-engineering, shared-services, SRE, developer-tooling, integration or middleware experience.
• Clear communication, sound engineering judgement and the confidence to make and progress technical decisions.
• Production delivery on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Production experience with Kotlin or Java.
• Legacy-to-cloud migration, including phased transition or parallel running.
• Experience leading shared services in sectors such as retail, payments, logistics or banking.
