Job summary

Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting a Decontamination Technician to support the Endoscopy Decontamination service at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. You will be responsible for the manual cleaning and preparation of endoscopes, while maintaining strict guidelines and documentation.

Training will be provided; the role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work as part of a busy team across a 7-day operation.

Qualifications

• GCSE maths and English (or equivalent) at grade 9–4 or above.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a busy Endoscopy Unit.
• Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Experience is desirable but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Manual cleaning and decontamination of flexible endoscopes before and after Endoscopy.
• Lead in the decontamination room and manage equipment for morning, afternoon and evening lists.
• Send scopes away for service and repair.
• Work with the Endoscopy Unit which operates 7 days a week.
