Job summary

TotalMec Estimating Services in Stoke sub Hamdon seeks an Electrical Estimator to own tendering and estimating activities. You will be central to pre-construction, securing new work and ensuring bids are competitive and commercially sound.

You’ll lead tender reviews, perform cost estimates, and liaise with clients and supply chain partners to build strong, cost-effective bids. This role requires site visits, take-offs, and collaboration with project teams to win opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in an estimating role within the electrical contracting sector.
• Able to read drawings, prepare take-offs and produce accurate costings.
• Clear communication with clients, colleagues and supply chain partners.
• Skilled at negotiating with suppliers/subcontractors to achieve best value.
• Organised and detail-focused, able to balance multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on tender reviews and support smooth handovers into live projects.
• Carry out site visits when required, produce layouts, and liaise with clients to understand their needs.
• Manage incoming enquiries, produce accurate take-offs, and prepare cost estimates for electrical installations.
• Compile tender submissions with precise and competitive pricing.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and suggest cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality.
• Work closely with project managers to build strong, competitive bids.
• Source supplier and subcontractor quotations, and negotiate to secure the best terms.
