Job summary

Marine Resources Limited is looking for a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of electrical and control system design across innovative marine projects. The role supports concept through commissioning with a hybrid London/Southampton base.

The successful candidate will lead design, produce schematics and diagrams, and specify PLCs/HMIs and power distribution equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Proven electrical design experience in marine, offshore, or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, automation and control systems.
• Experience with PLCs and industrial control hardware.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical and control systems.
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, calculations and documentation.
• Specify and integrate PLCs, HMIs, drives, instrumentation and power distribution equipment.
• Ensure designs meet relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support testing, commissioning and system integration activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with customers and suppliers.

Full time - Permanent

Salary: c£75,000 - £80,000 + Benefits

Our client is a growing engineering business developing advanced technologies for the maritime sector. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of electrical and control system design across a range of innovative projects.

The Role

• Lead the design and development of electrical and control systems.
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, calculations and technical documentation.
• Specify and integrate PLCs, HMIs, drives, instrumentation and power distribution equipment.
• Ensure designs meet relevant industry and regulatory standards.
• Support testing, commissioning and system integration activities.
• Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.

About You

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in electrical design within marine, offshore, industrial or similar engineering environments.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, automation and control systems.
• Experience with PLCs and industrial control hardware.
• Familiarity with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
