Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group is seeking a Lead Early Years Practitioner to join our nursery leadership team. You’ll support children with additional needs, observe practice and coach colleagues to drive high standards across rooms and outdoors.

You’ll work alongside practitioners and families to identify needs early, develop support plans, coordinate referrals and help embed safeguarding and inclusive practice throughout the setting.

Qualifications

• Ideally, you’ll hold a Level 5 Early Years or Childcare qualification.
• We’re happy to consider experienced Level 3 practitioners who have the right background and are willing to continue developing.
• Experience in an Early Years setting and improving practice is required.
• Ability to model good practice and coach colleagues, with understanding of child development.
• Experience supporting behaviour and additional needs and working with vulnerable children.

Responsibilities

• Work across the setting to observe practice and identify areas for improvement.
• Coach practitioners and model strong Early Years practice.
• Support safeguarding, inclusion and high standards of care across rooms.
• Deputise for the Nursery Manager when required.
• Spend time directly with children in rooms and outdoor spaces.
