Job summary

The Planner Jobs Redactive Publishing Limited is seeking an experienced Development Management Team Leader to guide a planning team and manage a varied caseload within a busy Local Planning Authority. Hybrid working is available and the role includes professional and managerial leadership responsibilities.

You will oversee workload, provide advice to Members and stakeholders, and represent the Council at committees, appeals and inquiries while ensuring high-quality, consistent development

Qualifications

• Significant experience within a Development Management planning environment.
• Experience managing and motivating professional planning staff.
• In-depth knowledge of current planning legislation and policy.
• Experience managing a heavy caseload and delivering reports to strict deadlines.
• Strong experience advising Members, applicants and other stakeholders.
• Experience representing a Council at appeals or planning inquiries.
• Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a Development Management team.
• Oversee planning applications, workload and performance.
• Make delegated decisions and prepare reports on complex or contentious applications.
• Provide planning advice to Members, officers, applicants and stakeholders.
• Represent the Council at Planning Committees, appeals and public inquiries.
• Lead negotiations with developers, including Section 106 matters.
• Provide advice on planning enforcement and breaches of planning control.
• Review and approve reports prepared by team members.
• Undertake site visits and support continuous improvement across the Planning Division.
