Job summary

Evolve Energy in Manchester is seeking a Lead Developer to own a major migration from a monolithic .NET app to a microservices architecture on Azure. You will write high quality C# and lead a small engineering squad, mentoring developers, setting standards and driving architectural decisions.

You will design services with DDD, CQRS and Event Sourcing, and shape the engineering culture while reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong, demonstrable C# experience on .NET 9 or later and ability to produce idiomatic, tested code.
• Design microservices and services-based architectures in production.
• Solid understanding of DDD, CQRS, and Event Sourcing.
• Experience with Azure-native services: AKS, Service Bus, Functions, SQL.
• Experience building or improving CI/CD pipelines, preferably in Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with Blazor (Server/WebAssembly) or eagerness to move into it.
• Experience mentoring developers and conducting thorough code reviews.
• Knowledge of SOLID, clean architecture, and TDD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of a monolith to microservices on Azure with architectural confidence.
• Design services using DDD, CQRS, Event Sourcing and REST/Service Bus patterns.
• Own infrastructure-as-code and day-one observability with OpenTelemetry and Application Insights.
• Champion TDD and meaningful unit/integration testing with xUnit, Playwright, Pact.
• Lead mentoring, set coding standards, ADRs and engineering workflows.
• Act as Scrum Master and collaborate with Product Owners to refine work.
