Job summary

Scott Logic in Leeds seeks a Lead Software Engineer to work with major UK clients in a hands-on, client-facing role, involved in the full development life cycle within small, multidisciplinary teams. You will mentor colleagues, take ownership of significant pieces of work, and adapt to the right languages, tooling and frameworks for each job.

Candidates should be strong problem-solvers with an understanding of building well-structured systems and excellent collaboration.

Qualifications

• Hands-on, full development lifecycle experience.
• Proven ability to design and build well-structured, maintainable systems.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and guiding client projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead development across projects and ensure timely delivery.

Lead Software Engineer

We work with some of the UK’s biggest companies and government departments to provide a pragmatic approach to technology, delivering bespoke software solutions and expert advice.

This is a hands‑on, client-facing role, offering the opportunity to be involved in the full development life cycle. You’ll typically work in small, tight-knit multidisciplinary teams, solving tough software problems. You’ll have the opportunity to further develop your career mentoring colleagues, advising our clients, and taking ownership of significant pieces of work.

We’re looking for passionate, proactive technologists. We are technology agnostic and use the right language, tooling and frameworks for the job. That means we’re open minded when it comes to your existing skillset, but we value the following:

• Good experience in at least one of Python, Java, C#/.NET, JavaScript or TypeScript, and their associated ecosystems.


• You’re a problem-solver, pragmatically exploring options and finding effective solutions.


• An understanding of how to design and build well-structured, maintainable systems.


• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to work.
