We are seeking a Lead Desk Strategist to join the London office of one of our long-standing clients, a large public investment manager. In this role, you will lead the development of quantitative trading and portfolio management applications, working closely with traders, portfolio managers, and risk teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions in private credit and insurance.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of quantitative finance, trading technology, and software engineering, where you will develop pricing models, risk analytics, and trading tools that drive real business decisions. The team operates with a startup mindset, offering the agility to innovate within a global financial powerhouse.

Requirements

Experience in private credit, hedge funds, or investment management, building trading tools, risk models, or portfolio management and portfolio construction applications
Significant quantitative skills.
Hands-on experience coding in Python and JavaScript, with a deep understanding of financial data pipelines and modeling
Strong background in discovery, planning, and roadmapping, collaborating directly with traders, portfolio managers, and risk teams to develop client-specific solutions
Ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable software solutions
Ability to architect, build, and iterate on high-impact financial applications
A startup mentality, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Based in London, UK - this is an in office position

Additional nice to have requirements:

Experience in insurance-linked securities or structured credit
Knowledge of order management systems, trade execution, and market data feeds
Prior experience in quantitative trading, fintech, or investment analytics

Key Responsibilities:

Build and enhance risk and pricing calculators, portfolio construction models, and trading execution tools for private credit
Act as a bridge between technology and the investment desk, delivering real-time analytics and decision-making support
Maintaining a strong partnership relationship with clients and other business stakeholders.
Using superior knowledge of our platform technologies built over the past few years to build and execute a roadmap for delivering clients' applications to specifications
Driving client discovery, identifying client needs and workflows, and understanding how platform technologies can be used to solve for client needs
Lead development efforts while maintaining hands-on involvement in Python and JavaScript-based applications
Oversee engineers and quantitative developers, ensuring high-quality delivery of business-critical applications
Stay in sync and report up to technology leadership in NYC
