Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design management on high-rise residential schemes, coordinating design information and ensuring compliance with programme and quality requirements. The role spans from pre-construction through to completion on complex London projects.

You will manage architects, structural and M&E consultants, chair design team meetings, oversee design programmes, RFIs and design changes, and support value engineering while

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Strong track record delivering high-rise residential projects, including new builds.
• Experience managing recladding, façade remediation or external envelope projects.
• Excellent knowledge of design coordination, technical delivery and construction sequencing.
• Strong understanding of Building Regulations, fire safety requirements and the Building Safety Act.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and build strong client/consultant relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
• Manage the delivery of design information across all project stages.
• Coordinate architects, structural engineers, M&E consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Chair design team meetings and manage design programmes.
• Manage RFIs, design changes and technical approvals.
• Work closely with site teams to resolve technical challenges during construction.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, fire safety and Gateway requirements where applicable.
• Support value engineering while maintaining quality, compliance and programme.
