Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design management on high-rise residential schemes, coordinating design information and ensuring compliance with programme and quality requirements. The role spans from pre-construction through to completion on complex London projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Strong track record delivering high-rise residential projects, including new builds.
• Experience managing recladding, façade remediation or external envelope projects.
• Excellent knowledge of design coordination, technical delivery and construction sequencing.
• Strong understanding of Building Regulations, fire safety requirements and the Building Safety Act.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and build strong client/consultant relationships.

Job description

An established building contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex residential projects is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager.

With a strong pipeline of work across high-rise residential developments, including both new build schemes and major recladding and remediation projects, this is an opportunity to take a lead role on technically challenging projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Working closely with operational teams, consultants and clients, you'll be responsible for driving the design process, managing technical risk and ensuring design information is delivered to programme across live projects.

The Role

As Design Manager, you'll lead the design management function on high-rise residential schemes, ensuring design information is coordinated, compliant and delivered in line with programme and quality requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
• Managing the delivery of design information across all project stages.
• Coordinating architects, structural engineers, M&E consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Chairing design team meetings and managing design programmes.
• Managing RFIs, design changes and technical approvals.
