Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead structural design for UK infrastructure projects, including shafts, walls, slabs, and foundations. The role requires strategic technical leadership and governance across permanent and temporary works, with BIM Level 2/ISO 19650 guidance and NEC4 contract involvement.

You will mentor engineers, review calculations, and coordinate with geotechnical and construction teams.

Qualifications

Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
10+ years experience in infrastructure, structural, temporary works or tunnelling design.
Understanding of Eurocodes, BS standards, and UK infrastructure requirements.
Working towards or holding Chartered status with ICE or IStructE depending on level.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic technical leadership for permanent and temporary works design and governance.
Prepare and guide engineering principles on structural calculations and drawings.
Develop permanent and temporary works solutions for shafts, retaining walls, slabs, foundations, and reinforced concrete structures.
Coordinate with geotechnical, construction, and temporary works teams.
Review and approve design calculations and multidisciplinary deliverables.
Act as discipline lead during bids, technical governance reviews, and client engagements.
Mentor junior engineers and support engineering teams.
