Job summary

Fives Landis Ltd in Cross Hills, West Yorkshire, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and governance of complex machine tool systems. You will work with the Mechanical Engineering Manager, applying strong engineering judgement to meet internal standards, customer specs, and regulations.

The role emphasizes design execution, governance, and collaboration with manufacturing, service, and sales teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in machine tool design within industrial environments.
• Familiar with design governance, reviews and change management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex machine tool mechanisms and assemblies.
• Ensure designs meet engineering standards, safety requirements, and customer specs.
• Support manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and service teams.
• Lead design reviews, DFMEAs, PFMEAs and risk assessments.
• Produce high-quality engineering documentation per standards.
