Job summary

Fives Landis Ltd is seeking a design-focused Mechanical Engineer for a permanent hybrid role in Cross Hills, West Yorkshire. You will design and detail new components and mechanisms, adapt existing designs to customer specs, and support downstream departments from concept through to delivery.

The role requires an HNC in Mechanical Engineering, proficiency with Siemens NX, and strong communication with various departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• CAD experience preferably, ideally Siemens NX.
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel).
• Ability to understand engineering drawings and work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail new components, mechanisms and systems.
• Develop new processes and introduce new materials where appropriate.
• Develop and improve existing components/designs.
• Issue machine parts on SAP in line with delivery schedules.
• Support assembly and manufacturing in building and commissioning machines.
• Collaborate with Sales to support technical bids.
• Create customer documentation and maintain records per standards.
• Follow Fives Values and prioritize health and safety.

Compensation:

Scope of the role

• Design & develop new mechanisms & machine systems to support project requirements.
• Adaptation of existing designs where required to support customer specifications.
• Supporting downstream departments to execute new/existing designs including identifying opportunities for design improvement/value engineering.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Design & detailing of new components, mechanisms & systems.
• Development of new processes including the use of new materials.
• Development of existing components/designs.
• Issuing of machine parts on SAP in accordance with machine delivery schedules.
• Supporting assembly/manufacturing in building/commissioning machines.
• Liaising with the Sales team to provide support for technical bids.
• Creating customer documentation and creating/maintaining records to Fives Landis or customer's own standards.
• Understand, and work at all times in line with Fives Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested

Key Skills Requirements

• Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Previous CAD experience preferable, ideally Siemens NX.
