Job summary

SP Energy Networks in Cambuslang seeks a Lead Design Engineer to develop and assess concept solutions for the transmission network. You will support investment decisions, guide project teams and drive innovative, cost-conscious engineering approaches.

Responsibilities include feasibility studies, budgeting, design compliance, and mentoring engineers. A degree or HND, Chartered status, and BIM experience are preferred for this pivotal role in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or HND with relevant industry experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in electrical infrastructure projects design and delivery.
• Knowledge of transmission network equipment operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and assess concept engineering solutions, including feasibility studies and budgets for transmission projects.
• Ensure designs comply with legislation, policies and operational requirements.
• Provide technical support to project teams throughout development.
• Promote health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Monitor industry developments and apply new technologies.
• Review engineering documentation and support budget preparation.
• Contribute to development of engineering standards and best practices.
• Mentor engineers across the team.
