Zego is building real-time, AI-driven insurance infrastructure and is hiring a Lead Data Scientist to shape driving intelligence that feeds pricing models.

You'll turn high-frequency GPS, accelerometer and gyroscope data into behavioural features and risk signals, collaborating with engineering, product, and actuarial teams across the UK, PT, and Portugal. Expect ownership, fast iteration, and production-grade impact.

Qualifications

• MSc or MSc/MEng in a quantitative field is required.
• Knowledge of digital signal processing or sensor physics.
• Proven track record delivering data science in production.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; Snowflake experience.
• Experience building and evaluating ML models on tabular data.
• Built data pipelines from scratch; reliable and scalable.

Responsibilities

• Work with raw high-frequency sensor data (GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope) at scale.
• Research new behavioural features and detection algorithms.
• Design and build features feeding driving quality, context, and risk.
• Move ideas from hypothesis to production with Python and SQL.
• Prioritise simple, robust solutions; apply ML when warranted.
• Lead experiments and automate insight generation.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and actuaries to place features in pricing path.
• Translate complex sensor data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
