Job summary

Smart Working is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to build and lead the data infrastructure powering an intelligent AI assistant for property managers, letting agents and build-to-rent teams. You will architect real-time data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, vector databases and ML data workflows.

As the first senior data hire, you will define data architecture, technology stack and engineering standards, help shape the data team and scale systems across a remote-first global organization.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a data engineer or lead data engineer.
• Strong data architecture, systems design and scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with real-time data processing and ML data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the data infrastructure powering an AI assistant for property managers, letting agents and build-to-rent teams.
• Architect and scale real-time data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, vector databases and ML data workflows.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, backend engineers, product teams, founders and product leadership to ensure reliable, efficient data processing.
• Define data architecture, technology stack and engineering standards as the first senior data hire.
