Job summary

Stevenage Borough Council is seeking an experienced Lead Surveyor - Damp & Mould to lead our damp, mould and condensation service across the housing stock in Stevenage. You will manage a team of surveyors, oversee complex cases, provide technical direction, and ensure work is delivered to high standards in compliance with health and safety and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• Carry out detailed damp, mould and condensation inspections and surveys.
• Diagnose complex building defects and identify practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Prepare specifications, schedules of work, technical reports and estimates.
• Lead and manage a team of surveyors, ensuring performance, quality and customer service standards.
• Manage contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Oversee projects from inception through to completion, including procurement and contract management.
• Provide technical advice on damp and mould, building defects, disrepair and building pathology.
• Manage complaints and disrepair cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are completed to specification.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, CDM Regulations and relevant housing standards.
• Manage budgets and validate contractor payments and quotations.
• Build positive relationships with residents and stakeholders whilst dealing effectively with challenging situations.
• Analyse performance data and contribute to service improvements, policy development and strategic planning.
• Deputise for the Disrepair, Damp & Mould Manager when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the damp, mould and condensation service within the Housing Property Services Team.
• Manage a team of surveyors and oversee complex cases to provide expert technical guidance.
• Oversee projects from diagnosis through to completion, including procurement and contract management.
• Ensure works comply with statutory requirements, health and safety legislation and best practice standards.
• Handle complaint resolution and disrepair case management and drive service improvements.
