Job description

Our client Scottish Power Renewables are looking for a Lead Contract Manager to join their team based in Glasgow or London (hybrid min. 2 days a week at the office).


To lead the foundations contracting area on the East Anglia 1N project, including the negotiation of contracts and delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects in the UK, working with Multinational Contractors, ensuring that SPR’s position is suitably protected in any agreements. The role will lead the negotiation and completion of a specific set of contracts related to foundations in respect of the East Anglia 1N project. Note the role may work instead on East Anglia 2. The role purpose, tasks, and interface are common for both projects.


Responsibilities:

  1. Lead negotiation and completion of Foundation contracts.
  2. Support project business cases with detailed contractual assessments across various disciplines, e.g., turbines, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, marine, geological, weather, offshore installation, ports, and logistics.
  3. Anticipate contractual and commercial risks, opportunities, and threats to the project and implement control measures or actions.
  4. Maintain value-adding relationships with all contractors and suppliers.
  5. Coordinate all legal, insurance, and procurement activities for the project area.
  6. Monitor contractor performance in the project to ensure quality, health & safety, and cost targets are met, ensuring the project is implemented in accordance with contract terms and sound commercial and risk management principles.
  7. Manage supply chain strategy for the Foundations area of the project, including:
    1. Securing sufficient manufacturing capacity in accordance with programmes and budgets.
    2. Devising the most economically advantageous multi-contract solutions.
    3. Ensuring procurement best practices and sound risk allocation principles are maintained.
    4. Managing interfaces across several concurrent supply chain contracts in a highly risky marine environment.
    5. Considering changes in technology or industry practices (such as installation techniques).
  8. Drive continuous improvement in contractual strategies, commercial parameters, and contractual terms and conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Degree and professional qualification in a relevant engineering discipline – Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture or commercially oriented qualification.
  2. Substantial postgraduate experience in the industry with significant experience in the energy sector.
  3. IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT-based project management software.
  4. Flexible to travel around Europe.
  5. Proven track record of delivering complex multi-discipline projects.
  6. Experience in the offshore sector.

Internal Collaboration:

  1. Coordinate support and key expertise from within the offshore business.
  2. Collaborate with all departments to ensure necessary input to contracts.
  3. Collaborate with other commercial managers.
  4. Collaborate with O&M to ensure requirements are specified and delivered, and assets are effectively transferred into operation to deliver business returns.
  5. Collaborate with Technical Services for effective and efficient deployment of resources and knowledge.
  6. Collaborate with Project Support for effective and efficient deployment of resources and knowledge.
  7. Collaborate and coordinate with all corporate functions to ensure alignment and delivery of contract strategies.

External Collaboration:

  1. Maintain key relationships with contractors and suppliers.
