Job summary

East Suffolk And North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Consultant in Older Peoples Services to join Colchester and Clacton Hospital teams. The appointee will help develop the Frailty service for Northeast Essex and participate in inpatient care, on-call duties, and teaching of junior staff.

The post offers involvement in clinical governance, care pathway development, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across ESNEFT.

Qualifications

• Registration with GMC is essential.
• MRCP or equivalent required.
• Specialist registration within 6 months of CCT date at interview.
• Excellent practical clinical skills.
• Awareness of current specialty developments and initiatives.
• Ability to provide expert clinical opinion on a wide range of acute medical emergencies.
• At least 4 years at SpR level or equivalent.
• Ability to lead and work within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload; contribute to department organisation.
• Must be able to travel to meet post requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide a Consultant-led service with the highest standard of care.
• Develop care pathways and clinical guidelines with the team.
• Collaborate with wards, ED and out-patients and primary care.
• Offer educational and leadership support to junior staff.
• Participate in appraisal and assessment of junior medical staff.
• Contribute to teaching of Registrars and Resident Doctors.
• Ensure quality review processes and meaningful benchmarks is established.
