Job summary
ITM Power in Sheffield is seeking a Principal Engineer of Coating Technologies to lead the development, industrialisation and optimisation of coating processes across manufacturing. You will guide cleaning, surface prep, coating application and post-treatment, ensuring robust, repeatable and scalable processes that meet production needs.
This role requires close collaboration with R&D, QA, Production and external suppliers, leading new coating technologies from development through to production,
Qualifications
- Degree in Materials Science, Surface Engineering, Chemical/Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
- Significant industrial experience in coating technologies and production processes.
- Knowledge of cleaning, surface prep, pre-treatment and coating processes.
- Experience with PVD and coating technologies, equipment installation and validation.
- Experience leading projects from concept to industrialisation in manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Lead development, industrialisation and optimisation of coating processes across manufacturing.
- Define process requirements, windows, parameters and acceptance criteria.
- Select and introduce coating, cleaning and inspection equipment into manufacturing.
- Lead trials, FAT/SAT, commissioning and production validation.
- Develop coating technology roadmap and transfer technologies to production.
