Job summary

Brent Council is recruiting a Lead Clinical Psychologist to steer the Intervention First Team, overseeing a multidisciplinary therapeutic service for children and young people. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on clinical practice to ensure evidence-based interventions and timely support.

You will shape early intervention pathways, reduce escalation to specialist services, and build collaboration across education, health and care, contributing to Brent’s SEND reform and improved

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) and HCPC registration.
• Strong knowledge of child development, attachment and trauma-informed practice.
• Significant experience with children and young people, including complex needs.
• Experience supervising and leading staff; ability to build high-performing teams.
• Proficient delivering psychology assessment, formulation and intervention at a specialist level.
• Experience working in multi-agency environments across education, health and care.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong clinical leadership and embed trauma-informed practice across the service.
• Lead, manage and develop a team of therapeutic practitioners; foster a reflective, high-performing culture.
• Deliver specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for complex cases.
• Oversee service delivery, including case allocation, performance monitoring and quality assurance.
• Collaborate across education, health and care; contribute to multi-agency planning and decisions.
• Promote early intervention approaches and psychologically informed practice across the wider system.
• Lead service development, innovation and continuous improvement using data and feedback.
• Provide training, consultation and guidance to schools and partners.
