Job summary

Brent Council is recruiting a Lead Clinical Psychologist to steer the Intervention First Team, overseeing a multidisciplinary therapeutic service for children and young people. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on clinical practice to ensure evidence-based interventions and timely support.

You will shape early intervention pathways, reduce escalation to specialist services, and build collaboration across education, health and care, contributing to Brent’s SEND reform and improved

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) and HCPC registration.
• Strong knowledge of child development, attachment and trauma-informed practice.
• Significant experience with children and young people, including complex needs.
• Experience supervising and leading staff; ability to build high-performing teams.
• Proficient delivering psychology assessment, formulation and intervention at a specialist level.
• Experience working in multi-agency environments across education, health and care.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Psychologist to lead our Intervention First Team, providing both strategic and operational leadership for a multi-disciplinary therapeutic service supporting children and young people.

This is a senior leadership role combining clinical expertise with system-wide influence. You will lead a team of therapeutic practitioners, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based interventions that promote emotional wellbeing, resilience and positive developmental outcomes.

You will play a critical role in shaping early intervention pathways, ensuring children and young people receive the right support at the right time and reducing escalation to specialist and statutory services.

The Person

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Psychologist with strong leadership capability and a passion for early intervention and system-wide impact.

You Will

• Hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) and be registered with the HCPC
• Have in-depth knowledge of child development, attachment, trauma-informed practice and evidence-based psychological interventions
• Bring significant experience working with children and young people, including those with complex needs
• Have experience supervising and managing staff, with the ability to develop capability and lead high-performing teams
• Be confident delivering psychological assessment, formulation and intervention at a specialist level
• Have experience working within multi-agency environments, collaborating and influencing across education, health and care
• Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, with the ability to influence decision-making and drive improvement
• Be committed to safeguarding, professional standards and continuous development
