Job summary

Brent Council is seeking an Educational Psychologist to join its Educational Psychology Service, working with the Local Authority, schools and partner agencies to assess needs and provide timely psychological advice and intervention.

You’ll use a range of approaches to support learning and emotional wellbeing, build school capacity, and contribute to SEND policy and service development within Brent. A strong commitment to safeguarding and collaborative practice is essential.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as Educational Psychologist or evidence registration is being sought.
• Honours degree in Psychology required.
• Master’s level qualification acceptable to HCPC as Educational Psychologist training.
• Experience working with children and young people in education or social care contexts.
• Commitment to safeguarding and high standards of practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological consultation, advice and support to Local Authority, schools and other agencies.
• Assess psychological and educational needs and provide timely advice and intervention.
• Use a range of psychological approaches to understand needs and develop strategies.
• Develop and facilitate training for school-based professionals and services.
• Support schools to develop capacity to meet diverse learner needs and contribute to SEND policy and practice.
