Job description

An exciting opportunity for a passionate Women's health professional to become our Lead Clinical Nurse at Canterbury Breastcare in a 0.9FTE role.

About Canterbury Breastcare

Canterbury Breastcare offers a supportive environment where women receive comprehensive healthcare under one roof. We bring together specialists and health professionals dedicated to breast health, from screening and diagnostic mammography to surgical and medical management of breast issues. Our centre is a joint venture with Pacific Radiology and local breast surgeons.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead Clinical Nurse to utilize their advanced nursing knowledge and leadership skills to provide specialist care from diagnosis through post-operative management for patients and their whanau.

This role aims to improve health outcomes through breast services, including diagnostic, screening, assessment, and cancer pathways. The successful candidate will offer nursing expertise in direct patient care and support women throughout their treatment journey. They will also leverage their leadership experience in breastcare nursing to take ownership of this role.

Candidate Requirements
  • Knowledge of breast screening and breast cancer diagnosis
  • Strong leadership skills and relevant managerial experience in nursing teams
  • Registered nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • At least 2 years of experience in the clinical specialty
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team
Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the nursing team in delivering expert nursing care, collaborating with patients, whanau, and healthcare professionals
  2. Coordinate with medical specialists to ensure smooth patient pathways
  3. Educate and support patients and whanau from diagnosis to treatment
  4. Manage patient care utilizing organizational and community resources
  5. Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to nursing and allied health staff
  6. Serve as a clinical resource, offering specialist knowledge to patients and colleagues
Additional Information

Appointment is contingent upon satisfactory Police Vetting and Risk Assessment as per Children’s Act 2014.
