Job summary

Egis is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to shape and grow our UK water practice. You will drive civil design within multidisciplinary teams, deliver surface water drainage strategies, and lead flood risk projects for national clients. You will mentor staff, build client relationships, and help shape our sustainable water solutions.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Registered as a chartered engineer (CEng) or equivalent (ICE or similar).
• Demonstrated leadership across the design lifecycle from appraisal to delivery.
• Experience in Microdrainage/Infodrainage and drainage hydrology.
• Interest in nature-based solutions and sustainable water management.
• Experience with frameworks, alliances, and/or D&B delivery models.
• Confident client/stakeholder management and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Own civil scope within multidisciplinary delivery, promoting best practice and decisions on operability and maintenance.
• Lead surface water drainage strategy development and detailed drainage design (with hydraulic modelling).
• Lead civil aspects of flood/erosion risk management projects.
• Advise on flood risk mitigation and regulatory alignment.
• Develop team expertise in river engineering/restoration and guide junior staff.
