Job summary

Stantec is recruiting a Principal or Associate Engineer to join our Reading office, specialising in flood risk management, river engineering and water management. You will contribute from concept through to construction, guiding multidisciplinary projects and liaising with clients.

We value Chartered status (or progress toward it) and demonstrable CAD/Office skills, with beneficial exposure to CESWI and NEC contracts. The role offers a clear path for technical leadership and career growth.

Qualifications

• Candidate will have a BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering and ideally chartered status or working towards it.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office packages is essential.
• Knowledge of CESWI and NEC construction contracts would be beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Development and delivery of flood risk, river engineering and water management schemes.
• Design of structures including outfalls, sluices, culverts, river walls and weirs to appropriate codes and standards.
• Option appraisal to develop economic and sustainable solutions.
• Development of construction details and specifications.
• Coordinate with CAD Technicians to produce clear drawings.
• Site visits for project familiarisation, inspections and supervision of works.
• Contract preparation, administration and site supervision.
• Project coordination, client liaison and budget control.
• Supervision of junior staff and mentoring opportunities.
